AMCUK Working Malamute of the Year and Rookie Musher of the Year

RULES

General.

1. One season’s competition will be from 1st October 2008 to 31st March 2009 inclusive.

2. All dogs entered must be owned by paid up members of the AMCUK.

3. The team must all be KC registered or AMCUK Welfare registered Alaskan Malamutes.

4. Rookie Musher’s must not have previously competed in more than three rallies.

Points Allocation.

1. Points can be achieved at all timed working rallies regardless of the organization. E.g. AMWA, ABSA, SHCGB, BHSHRA etc.

2. Points will only be awarded to all Malamute teams. Mals run in a mixed breed teams will not qualify for points.

3. Single dog teams will be eligible for points at any event where there is a specified class or where they are allowed to run as a minimum team size.

4. All dogs competing must complete the course running in the team. Dogs that do not complete the course will not be eligible for points.

5. Please note that organizations running two day rallies will result in points being awarded for your overall finishing position on the final day. Dogs that only complete one day will only accrue half the points. Unless these events are run as two individual rallies, in which case points will be awarded as normal for either day.

6. Working Malamute of the year points will be accumulated from your best 10 rally finishing positions for the current season.

7. In mixed breed classes regardless of your race finishing position, 1st place points will be awarded to the fastest all Malamute team to complete the race. 2nd place points to the second fastest etc.

8. Points will be awarded as follows: 

          Place   1st     2nd     3rd     4th     5th     6th     7th     8th     9th     10th

          Points   20      18      16      14      12     10        8        6        4         2    

A single point will be awarded for 11th place and below to all teams completing the race.

9. Points need not be won in the same class over the season.

10. Teams need not be driven by the dog’s owner.

11. Disqualified teams will not qualify for any points.

12. If on calculation there are dogs on joint points for 1st place, the title will be given to the dog with the most first places. Should that also be equal we would then look at the number of second places etc. 

Bonus Points. 

1.5 points if within 15 seconds of the team in front.

1 point if within 15.1-30 seconds of the team in front.

.5 point if within 30.1-60 seconds of the team in front.

Bonus Points 1st Place Only.

.5 point if within 60.1-75 seconds ahead of second place.

 1 point if within 75.1-90 seconds ahead of second place.

1.5 points if within 90.1-120 seconds ahead of second place.

  2 points if > 120.1 seconds ahead of second place.

Exceptions.

Where no separate Malamute, freight or mixed breed class is scheduled at an event, no points can be achieved. Points will not be awarded where Malamutes or mixed breed teams run in, or as part of different breed class for the sake of organizational expediency.

No points will be awarded to a dog not named on an entry form except where a dog has been substituted & the event organizer has accepted the substitution.

Points Collation.

All points will be collated using results from various working/race organizations. It will however remain the responsibility of the owner/driver of a team to notify the points collator of their dog/s pedigree name/s and which dogs they will be working/competing in the Working Malamute of the year awards.

Any alterations/corrections/notifications as to which dogs ran at a rally must be notified to the points collator within two weeks of the event in question.
