Judge's Critiques
Judge: Mrs. Brunette
Greenland. (Rajarani).
It was a real honour to be asked to judge
at this landmark show – 50 years of the Alaskan Malamute in the
U.K.,- 1959-2009. I really enjoyed my day and thank the many
exhibitors who entered under me. The whole show had a great
feeling, and I was made to feel most welcome, by all. Thanks
also go to my super stewards who worked so hard and made my day
a lot easier. There were many super dogs, some that went
cardless, and a few not so good, with numerous faults, including
bad bites, poor movement, and incorrect tails, amongst other
things. The venue was terrific, and although it was an extremely
hot day, the dogs were well catered for with plenty of shade
provided. I was thrilled with my overall winners. What a super
show, congratulations to the committee.
Min Pup Dog (6) 3 abs
1st Smith’s Hyteton Makka Pakka, Lovely
pup, mature for age. Well balanced for one so young, and well
angulated throughout. Super head with ex eye shape. Rather level
bite. Moved well when settled. Promising
2nd Taylor&Lawrence, Hyteton Tombli for
Luponooshka, brother to 1st. Nice boy, lot less mature and still
really loose and dipping behind withers.
Nice movement when I could see it! Promising.

Good pup throughout. Nicely balanced head with well set and
shaped eyes. Good ratios throughout. Ex movement for one so
young. Be interested to see how this one develops.
2nd Copley-Holland, Tailfly Turnaround
Glider at Katabatic, brother to 1st and could change places on
another day, but did not want to move, when he did he showed ex
action. Good bone for age, and well balanced.

1st Murray&Whyman Tailfly To The Runner

1st Darlow, Sledog Forest Mist, very out

held neck, which was reflected in ex shoulder placement, strong
driving quarters, showing ex

first, but ex make and shape throughout. Super head of correct
proportions, lovely appealing eye of gd shape and set. Lovely
free and easy action. Liked him.

Nearly four yrs and such a well balanced male. Ex head with
correct ear and eye. Gd bone throughout and really well handled
and prepared. Ex front with well laid shoulders, and correct
upper arm. Gd length to height ratios. Gd tailset. Super mover
with strong action.
2nd Hodgson, Achak Come Fly with Me for
Ataneq, 3 yr old pleasing boy with correct head and ex eyes for
set and expression, and well set and held ears. For complete
balance would prefer better tail set, as he tends to hold it
rather tight. Ex action, showing good stride.
Limit Dog (11) 5 abs
1st Loades, Snowolf Long Island, now 5 years and showing all his
early promise. Out of coat today but such a lovely make and
shape, right out of the top draw! His construction is correct
throughout and is reflected in his outstanding movement. What
can I say except, Super!
2nd Kendall, Zeelukzak Dark Dream, Bl and
wh boy in wonderful condition., broad head, with obliquely set
eyes of lovely almond shape. Ears set well and carried well,
Well boned throughout and short almost vertical pasterns. Loins
well muscled which showed in his super action. Gd tail set.
Open Dog (10) 2 abs
1st Loades , Snowolf Canuck Bullit,
Thought I had died and gone to heaven at this point!! Stunning
mono bl&wh dog. What can I say except superb! I know there are
people out there who are colour biased, think again, this dog
has it all! He personified just what I am looking for, for type,
construction, muscular condition and temperament His movement
was a joy to behold, powering round the ring with tremendous
style. Tail well furred and carried correctly. A most handsome
dog with wonderful double coat beautifully prepared. The most
lovely head with super broad skull yet not coarse, muzzle of
good depth and width and with the most lovely friendly well set
eyes. Ears have good carriage and are of correct size. If he
does not make up it will be a crime. Best In Show.
2nd Botterill, Cinneli Delta Tag, Most
lovely dog, flagging in the heat . Lovely make and shape with ex
bone throughout . Ex head with gd skull of correct proportions

well muscled

today, but promising. Good head for age. Ex coat and well

2nd Bartlett, Articrainbow Silver Lady
Junior Bitch (15) 2 abs
1st Loades, Snowolf Ice Cold Maiden, Gorgeous red with stunning
outline, would have liked to take her home!Super throughout, a
little shy today, but coped well. A lovely girl of 16 mths but
looking such a picture, took my eye immediately. Her
construction is hard to fault, sweetest of heads but of ex type
with ex pigment for colouring. Correct ratios throughout. Gd
front with correct slope to shoulders and correct upperarm, back
straight and slightly sloping over croup, which was of correct
length giving a super tailset.
Good bone for size and correct front already well muscled.
Moderate bend to stifles with well let down hocks, and with
strong short pasterns. Movement a dream to watch. Ex handling.
Best Junior, Best Bitch, and B.O.S.

black of undoubted quality. Good head with ex proportions, eyes
quite large almond shaped and well set. Ear set correct. Very
soundly constructed which showed to advantage on the move. I
liked her.
Yearling Bitch (15) 4 abs
1st Copley-Holland, Chayo Living the Dream, Nice allround bitch,
really out of coat today, but could not deny her her place. Ex
shaped head strong but refined with correct expression. Ex front
and aft, really well balanced throughout. Tailset good and
carried well. Very positive strong movement.
2nd Stanier, Artictrek Alana Surprise, Lovely girl, with
feminine but still correct head, with well placed eyes and gd
shape. Ears carried correctly when she used them. Correctly
angulated fore and aft, which showed when she finally got going!
She was flagging in the heat, and did not want to raise her
tail, but it was set on correctly.
Post Graduate Bitch (20) 6 abs
1st Atkinson, Cinneli Trek De Eleanor for Ekat, Lovely make and
shape, good construction. Ex balanced head with lovely
expressive eyes, and ears set well. Good length to height
ratios. Well angled front and rear with level back and slight
slope over croup. Correct short almost vertical pasterns and ex
compact feet. Tail set good. Great powerful movement , which
looked so easy!
2nd Bartlett, Kaiyuh Precious Memories at Articrainbow, Nice
girl of super type, totally out of coat!, but deserved her
place. Ex throughout with correct angulation. Nice head with gd
eye and ear. Great ground covering powerful movement.
Limit Bitch (19) 7 abs
1st Forster, Hawkhams Leading Lady of Kachemak, Her movement
really took my eye when she entered the ring, a really ground
covering gait, and when I went over her she did not disappoint!
She has ex conformation and super outline. Attractive head of
correct type, and really well balanced throughout. Nice girl!
2nd Stanier, Arctictrek Idaho, Super type, another one
displaying no clothes!! However she did show her excellence!
Lovely head with sweet expression, strong but feminine. A really
well balanced girl of good construction. Her movement was
something to behold, really took my eye.
Open Bitch (16) 5 abs
1st Loades Snowolf Manhatten Heatwave, this kennel certainly
turns out some quality, another superb bitch, with ex angulation
which was reflected in her outstanding movement. Super head of
correct balance with lovely large almond eyes of correct set.
Ears correct and pointing slightly forward. Good brush tail of
ex set and carriage. Strong straight fore legs with correct
short pasterns, and well muscled hind quarters with slight bend
to stifle. Nice straight back with slight slope over croup
leading to well set on tail. Ex coat of double texture.
2nd Staniers, Arctictreks Kaos, 6 years and totally bald, but
still a worthy winner Another kennel showing dogs of outstanding
movement, which is so important in a sled dog, to do the job
they were intended for. As they say form follows function, if
construction is correct gd movement should follow! Which in this
case it did! Ex head strong but still feminine, you would have
known she was a girl! She powered round the ring to take 2nd
place.
Veteran Bitch (10) 1 abs
1st Elliot & Cambell, Cinneli Solkic Kia for Packice, Nice
looking girl of 8 with super conformation throughout. Well
boned, and well angulated fore and aft. Ex head, very appealing,
lovely expression, and ex eyes for set and shape, and well
placed ears on back of skull which pointed slighty forward.
Really ex movement, with good forward reach, and ex single
tracking from rear, real power house! Liked her. Reserve Best
Bitch.
2nd Howarth, Hawkam Harlequin SH.CM. Another nice one, now 8
yrs. Massive correct double coat, which was well presented. Ex
construction throughout, and also really gd head type, with ex
eyes and gd ear set. Strong through front and rear, and moved so
well at the end of a long day. Well done.
Rescue Stake & Junior Handler
Judge: Terry Coldham (Polarpaws)
Steward:
Mike John (Cristakell)
Before you read on I
would like to say a big thank you to AMCUK for giving me the
opportunity to assess and review the rescue stakes classes and
also a big thank you to Mike John who stewarded for me and a
special big thanks to all those who entered the rescue stakes,
as your support is very much appreciated by all. Like most of us
ringside judges we all have opinions on who should and shouldn’t
have been placed and until you get in the ring and put your
hands over the dogs it’s hard to see what the dogs have to
really offer, so this was a great opportunity to see for myself
how the breed is developing and the quality of the dogs that are
out there, albeit the rescue stakes.
There seemed to be a
cross section of varying coat lengths and also coat textures
from soft and fluffy to the required course guard hair & oily
undercoat. I also noticed how eye colour across the board was a
lot lighter then it should be and eye shape was a bit too round
for my liking. I would also like to have seen a tad more bone on
the bitches, however most toplines were good and in general the
movement was fair.
I think some of the
adults needed to watch the juniors handle their dogs and take
some notes, as the juniors I judged were very good and extremely
knowledgeable and in most cases had good control over their dogs
as well as having good placement and ring awareness.

the situation and on another day would have done better.
