MALAMUTE OF THE
YEAR AWARDS
Awards will be made in the
following classifications. Winners will be decided on the
number of points amassed during the year. The Malamute Of
The Year Awards (MOYA) were introduced in the Millennium.
The competition is open to all Club Members and will run
annually from 1st January to 31st
December, with results having to be lodged by 31st
January the following year.

Please note that for the
purpose of the awards, wins at the Alaskan Malamute Club
Show will be considered as wins at Championship level and
points should be calculated at the higher rate.
Points won in puppy classes
and for best puppy awards count only towards Puppy Of The
Year and should not be included towards the Mal of the Year
contest.
RULES AND CONDITIONS

Points
won by puppies in breed classes other than Puppy and
Minor Puppy, shall count towards the overall title,
regardless of age of puppy

Points
for Puppy of the Year can only be gained in Puppy, Minor
Puppy and by winning Best Puppy in Breed

Veteran-
total of all points won in veteran and open breed
classes
-
Stud
Dog/Brood Bitch- total of all points won in breed
classes (to include progeny owned by non-members)

Special
Beginners- only open to dog, handler and/or owner never
having won a CC or equivalent at the Club Show or
General Championship Show in Malamute classes. Previous
winners of MOYA’s also excluded

Import-
as the name suggests

Some examples ease
calculation and prevent grey areas:

Dog wins
open class, Best Dog and BOB at a Championship Show:
Class win = 15 points, Best
of Sex = 10 points and BOB = 10 points= TOTAL 35 points

Equivalent win at an Open Show would count:
Class win = 3 points, Best
of Sex = Nil, and BOB = 3 points= TOTAL 6 points

Claims
cannot be made for Best of Sex or Reserve Best of Sex
awards at open shows as in most cases these are not
declared
Puppy wins Minor Puppy,
Puppy and 2nd in Junior at a Championship Show:

results are not published in the Dog press, responsibility for
submission of points lies with you, the exhibitor.
