The Alaskan Malamute Club of the United Kingdom.

The Alaskan Malamute Club of the United Kingdom was formed in 1964. Although there were not that many Malamutes in Britain at that time, a small group of enthusiast got together in an effort to promote this magnificent breed in a positive light.

The Club has grown steadily along with the breed's popularity and encourages responsible breeding by its members by insisting on adherence to a code of ethics.

The Club holds two shows a year, an open show in the spring and a Championship show in the autumn. The breed gained CC status with the UK Kennel Club in 2006 after over 40 years as a rare breed and currently have 6 sets of CCs available each year. Members have the opportunity to compete for the AMCUK Malamute of the Year titles, introduced in 2000 to recognise showing achievements.

To encourage the working side of the breed, the Club introduced a Working Malamute of the Year title in 2003 which is gaining in popularity each year. Although the Club doesn't host any working rallies, it supports the working of Malamutes and is looking at introducing Working Titles from the Alaskan Malamute of America in the near future.

The Club also offers chances to learn about the breed in the form of Breed Seminars and Judging Seminars, often taking advantage of the knowledge and experience of well established foreign breeders and judges.

It's not all about competition though and the Club also hosts Fun Days where people and their Malamutes can take part in games and try out activities, usually whilst fund raising for Breed Rescue.

Membership is encouraged from anyone interested in Alaskan Malamutes, owners, breeders and judges. Members get reduced entry fees to events as well as receiving The Sled Dog, our club magazine, 4 times a year.
